Buying your first home can be both exciting and stressful. Remembering everything that you need to prepare can become overwhelming.
This past week I hosted and shared tips for first-time home buyers.
In case you missed it, take a look at a few topics that were discussed to help you feel more prepared purchasing for your first home in 2021.

Sort out Your Mortgage Early

Figuring out how to go about your mortgage can be a daunting task. However, it’s integral that you get started on this as soon as possible. Ideally, you’ll want to get a pre-approval before you even choose a realtor or begin looking at houses. Knowing how much you can afford will make the process a lot easier for you and your realtor. The good news is, there are many different options for you to choose from when it comes to your mortgage. Be sure you look at all of your options and choose one that works best for you and your lifestyle.

Choose the Right Realtor

When choosing the right realtor, you may think that all that matters is their track record and statistics. However, it’s also integral that you choose someone that you like and who shares similar values. You will be spending a lot of time together, so it’s important that you not only get along but are on the same page when it comes to what you’re looking for in a home.

Also, you must choose a realtor who is knowledgeable and has your best interests at heart. In this market, you need to make sure your realtor is confident, knowledgeable, and knows how to help you get ahead.

Prepare for a Bidding War

With limited inventory, expect that you aren’t going to be the only one interested in purchasing that property and will likely end up in a bidding war. Not to worry, it’s not unusual to pay above the listing price if the home is in a popular area. However, if you’ve sorted out your mortgage, have your finances in order and have a great realtor by your side, getting the home you want should be right within your reach.
